My primary photography interests involve wildlife, landscape, macro, and live music.\u00a0 As a Louisiana native my early photography centered around the state’s plentiful local insects and flora.\u00a0 That evolved from near macro to 1:1 to 5:1 and beyond utilizing focus stacking.\u00a0 Since moving north to Bellingham, WA I\u2019ve increasingly focused on the abundant local birds, inspiring landscapes, and excellent music scene.<\/p>\n
When shooting macro I enjoy showing beyond what we see with the naked eye.\u00a0 Utilizing custom built and specialized equipment along with focus stacking software allows photography at magnifications beyond the previous limits of regular cameras.\u00a0 Showing the details of individual pollen grains or the scales of a butterfly wing opens up a world that most rarely see.\u00a0 No insects are harmed to obtain shots and I try to avoid disturbing any living subjects.<\/p>\n
With larger wildlife I try to capture the magnificence of each animal and convey a sense of emotion.\u00a0 As with insects, I always try to avoid disturbing the subject.\u00a0 With landscapes I enjoy shooting panoramic views and long exposures of waterfalls, streams, and lakes.\u00a0 I primarily focus on the varied wildlife and landscapes of the Pacific Northwest and enjoy occasional photo trips to Alaska and the Mountain West.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
